Yamaha Music UK, the UK arm of Yamaha Music, one of the world’s largest producers of musical instruments and professional commercial audio products, has merged with Yamaha Electronics (UK) Ltd. The AV & Hi-Fi product categories will become the fourth Sales & Marketing Division within Yamaha Music UK Ltd based at the company’s headquarters in Milton Keynes.

Over 121 years Yamaha has grown to become the world’s leading musical instrument manufacturer, supplying a full line-up of acoustic and digital musical instruments. Since the 1950s, the Yamaha name has also been associated with a chain of music schools which now spans over 40 countries.
The company’s mission remains to develop new technologies and expertise related to sound and music. Yamaha’s extensive experience in digital technologies is a critical element driving the growth of its various businesses today. It has world acclaims for digital mixers, professional audio equipment, electronic pianos and synthesizers, and digital multi-channel amplifiers, such as the DSP-Z11.
Yamaha plans to concentrate resources on high-value-added products within growth market segments and expand the business in areas such as front surround systems designed for flat-panel TVs. Yamaha is responding to the surge in demand in this area with intensive development of the Digital Sound Projector (YSP) based on Air-Surround technology, to cater for different installation styles, and by developing products that offer greater convenience.
Yamaha also aims to establish the desktop audio genre as a new product field, that would combine high sound quality with compact and stylish design. Moreover, Yamaha is developing new audio equipment to support business users in making effective presentations.
Robert Webster, sales & marketing director, will head-up the Yamaha AV division whilst remaining in charge of the Electronic Keyboard Division. The specialist sales team will be headed up by Alan Davidson who has over 20 years’ experience working for Yamaha Electronics UK.
Andrew Kemble, MD of Yamaha Music UK, commented: “For many years, I have felt that we have been missing an opportunity to bring our Musical Instrument, Commercial Audio and AV and Hi-Fi operations together and to exploit the synergies and strengths that can come from one co-ordinated operation. I am delighted that under our new umbrella of ‘The Sound Company’, we can now address this and I am excited about the future development of the New AV Division here at YMUK and its great opportunities for adding value and business to the Yamaha brand”.
