Three men from Wisbech recently put their best feet forward to help raise over £1,000 for a cancer charity.
David Youngs, Stephen Holt and Adam Gray, who all work at the Hughes branch in Market Place, set off to climb Snowdon on August Bank Holiday Monday with a target of raising £500 for Marie Curie in memory of former work colleague Jon Foley who sadly passed away three years ago.
David Youngs said: “We started off in light drizzle at 8.30am and as we climbed the rain got heavier and heavier. There was bad news when we were half way up we learned the weather conditions had led to the Summit Café being closed, so no cake and coffee for us!
“By this time Adam had stopped due to an injury but Stephen and I went on and by the last third of the ascent visibility was down to about 10 metres, and there were strong winds, but we carried on eventually reaching the summit.
“Having now collected all the monies we are delighted to have actually raised £1,207 for the charity and would like to thank all the customers, families and friends who supported us on this venture.”
