Whirlpool UK Appliances Limited, parent company to Hotpoint, Indesit, Whirlpool and KitchenAid, is sponsoring the upcoming Electrical Product Safety Conference, taking place on the 4th and 5th November 2020.

This year’s Conference will take place virtually, over two mornings on 4th and 5th November, and for the first time is free1 to all who wish to attend. Now in its 12th year, the annual conference, held by the UK’s leading charity on electrical safety, Electrical Safety First (ESF), is designed to highlight and address key issues faced by those in the industry and that ultimately affect the safety of end-user consumers.

Whirlpool UK is sponsoring the virtual conference and is supporting ESF by inviting and speaking to attendees on the topic of ‘Using Data to Improve Product Recall Effectiveness’. The company will be sharing its own experiences, and providing best practice examples, which Whirlpool UK hopes will assist other organisations should a product recall arise in the future. Attendees to the seminar will also be able to ask questions directly to Whirlpool UK on this topic.

Ian Moverley, Public Affairs Director, Whirlpool UK Appliances Limited says: “Safety is of utmost importance to us at Whirlpool UK and we are continually improving our product safety standards. It is vital, as an industry, that when it comes to safety, we come together to learn from each other, share information, and adapt our processes based on these learnings. Particularly so at the moment, when the COVID-19 pandemic is upending traditional ways of working and impacting customer communications channels.

“On average, a typical product recall programme will find between 10 and 20 per cent of consumers with affected models. Utilising data enhanced our understanding of our consumers behaviours’ and, at Whirlpool UK, we have so far been able to resolve over 40 per cent of affected consumers during a recent recall. We hope that providing data driven insights, and the knowledge we have obtained through our own product recall programmes, can help improve the average number of consumers reached and the overall safety of UK consumers.

“We are delighted to be involved in the Electrical Product Safety Conference this year and hope our colleagues and friends in the industry will join, participate and be inspired to take a data-led approach to putting the safety of consumers at the forefront of everything they do.”
