Toshiba’s latest DVD player boasts its new and exclusive XDE upscaling chip which enables users to upscale standard-def DVDs to high definition.
Ideal for those that want HD content but are reluctant to pay hundreds of pounds for a Blu-ray player, the XD-E500 player offers a more affordable alternative, with a price tag of around £120.
According to the manufacturer, the new chip can upscale standard-def TV broadcasts and conventional DVDs to 720p, 1080i or 1080p HD resolutions.
Toshiba is expected to include the XDE chip on other DVD products in the near future.
