Electrical Safety First – supported by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) – is hosting an industry summit designed to help businesses deal effectively with product recalls.
This CPD accredited event – Unravelling Product Risk Assessment (post-incident) – is being held on Tues 26th March 2019, at Mary Ward House, 5 Tavistock Place, London. It will bring together a team of experts – including major retailers, specialist law firms and the OPSS – to clarify the theory and method behind a successful risk assessment. Using the recognised EU format as a basis, the summit will offer a step by step approach to the factors that need to be considered to clarify the level of risk following an incident – and how to document it. Delegates will also undertake a facilitated workshop, using a relevant case study, to ensure theory is put into practice.
“Feedback we have received indicates that post-incident risk assessment is sometimes over-simplified, or perceived as some kind of ‘dark art’”, explains Martyn Allen, Technical Director at Electrical Safety First. “So we have developed this event to show how a comprehensive and well document risk assessment will help determine the most effective corrective action – and ensure that consumers are protected in a timely and efficient manner.
“This summit is a follow-up to our high profile annual product safety conference, which took place last November”, adds Martyn. “Although we are a consumer-facing charity, we established the conference back in 2010 because we believe that the best way to protect consumers is by working with business. So our objective with the summit – as always – is to ensure we bring delegates the critical information and emerging trends currently impacting on the electrical products industry.”
