The owner of a 56-year-old appliance has won the Time to Change www.t2c.org.uk/ UK’s oldest fridge competition organised by Amdea. The winner, Edmund Garrod from High Wycombe, whose mother bought the appliance in 1954, was presented with a brand new, ultra efficient model, which should save him well over £60 a year on his electricity bill and significantly reduce his household carbon emissions.

Elica’s Evolution Luxerion, is the manufacturer’s new line of extractors that incorporate air purifiers into air treatment. Employing Elica technology and the HEPA filter to provide three different levels of filtration, Evolution Luxerion purifies the air of fumes, dust, pollen, bacteria and all impurities greater than 0.1 micron.

Hotpoint has launched its biggest brand support advertising and PR campaign to promote the new Hotpoint cooking range. ‘The vital ingredient’ campaign aims to encourage consumers to become more creative in the kitchen with the help of Hotpoint’s cooking ranges – such as Ultima, Openspace or NewStyle.

Following its 2009 merger with BBG Distribution, and the launch of Peerless-AV UK and Peerless-AV Europe, Peerless has reported a highly successful start to its UK and European business in the first year of trading. Following the merger, over 90% of existing BBG customers moved their business across to Peerless-AV. Peerless has developed and launched over 200 product lines into stores since July 2009, including designer AV furniture; 1.4 HDMI AV cabling; custom installation ceiling mounting products; and TV wall mounting solutions, including the Slimline and PerfectMount ranges.

Siemens has launched a free five-year warranty on selected built-in appliances in a new promotion running until January 2011 when VAT goes up. The free warranty includes call out and all parts and labour during the first five years following purchase of Siemens built-in appliances via participating dealers. Each claim must include a minimum of five qualifying built-in appliances from the selected list to be eligible for the free warranties.

Whirlpool has found a way to boost sales of induction hobs with an accessory that enables any saucepan to be used on an induction hob. It includes an ‘Interface Disc’ designed to be used with any pan on an induction hob. It comes with a detachable silicone handle for placing and removing the disc and it is designed to suit all diameter cookware from 22cm to 28cm.
