Amica, Polish DA manufacturer has announced details of its distribution network for the UK. Portway Domestic Appliances will offer its freestanding and built-in products to the independent channels. Amica’s full range of products will also be available from Inman & Co.

Ernst & Young LLP were appointed administrators of Bridisco Limited. The company, established in 1961 and employing approximately 600 staff, operated as an electrical wholesaler and distributor (as BDC Independents) through a nationwide network of 30 distribution centres in the UK.

The Electrolux Inspiro oven has been voted one of six Good Housekeeping Institute Outstanding Products of the Year – winning a prestigious Good Housekeeping Consumer Award 2008 in the GHI Tried & Tested Category.

Fagor, part of De Dietrich Kitchen Appliances Ltd. has achieved record sales results in the UK both for the year to date and for the period of September year-on-year. Its sales are currently 15% up overall for the year to date and in September achieved its best ever month, with a 31% increase over the same period last year.

LG Electronics has signed an agreement to become a Global Partner and a Technology Partner of Formula 1. As part of this association LG acquires exclusive designations and marketing rights as the official Consumer Electronics, Mobile Phone and Data Processor of Formula 1. 

Panasonic has opened its European Operations Training Centre in South Wales. This multimedia facility, located at the heart of the Panasonic European Manufacturing Plant in Newport, Wales, is designed to provide training courses for a range of Panasonic products.

Zoombak LLC, which entered the UK market earlier this year (February ‘08) with an innovative assisted-GPS locator, has decided to close down its UK consumer business as a result of unfavourable economic conditions in Britain.
