GDHA has reported an increase of 8% in sales via the independent sector, driven by growth across its three cooking appliance brands – Stoves, Belling and New World. This growth includes a 25% increase in GDHA’s sales within the freestanding category and a 21% increase in sales within the built-in oven category. Overall, GDHA now has a 19% share of the cooking appliance market within the independent sector.
Fisher & Paykel Appliances has entered a strategic business partnership with Haier, the number one white goods manufacturer in China and the fourth biggest household appliance maker globally. Haier will hold 20% shares in F&P and the partnership will involve joint collaboration in Research & Development, procurement and market expansion opportunities worldwide.
Gorenje, has confirmed the company’s sales in the UK for the first half of 2009 have shown an 18% increase against the same period for 2008. The company confirmed that despite a challenging economic climate, Gorenje continues to see increased sales and ongoing expansion in the UK market.

Retail sales have started showing signs of recovery. BDO Stoy Hayward’s High Street Sales Tracker for the week ending 7 June 2009 showed that overall like-for-like sales increased by 2.8%, which represented the best weekly increase for more than two months, as retailers benefited from higher footfall levels and more positive news concerning the economy.
