Retail training specialist Beyond The Box, is preparing a retail training package for the DSGi group, during which staff will receive product knowledge and sales skills coaching, in order to assist the consumer decision making process.  

De Dietrich has signed a distribution agreement with Dimpco, one of Irelands’ largest DA and CE distributors. The agreement will cover the Republic of Ireland. Dimpco has a wide range of retail partners, including a number of independent electrical retailers and offers spare parts and a high level of service.

Duracell Professional has launched its new Procell battery. Using new super conductive graphite (SCG), with smaller particles and higher conductivity, the battery provides longer life than any other Duracell alkaline. The Procell range includes variants of the popular D, C, AA and A battery types and will launch with a new logo, packaging concept and PoS material.

Ultimate Products, the UK’s largest, independent product sourcing and design business for homeware and electrical goods has acquired Intempo Digital.  The deal will enable Intempo’s brand of audio products to be developed and marketed internationally. Intempo’s founder, Bernadette Spofforth will continue to be responsible for the brand in the role of brand director.

Philips has acquired Saeco International Group of Italy, one of the world’s leading espresso machine makers, which trades under the Gaggia brand in the UK. This acquisition will allow Philips to strengthen its position in the espresso machine market. 

Whirlpool has been awarded SuperBrands status 2009/10.  SuperBrand status is awarded to brands which, after scrutiny by an ‘Expert Council’ and the British public, are deemed to have the strongest brand image and to offer significant advantages over competitors.  Whirlpool shares the 2009/10 honour with other brands such as Coca Cola, IBM and Xerox. 

Whirlpool has launched a new website (www.whirlpool.co.uk) which, in addition to the five core product sections, features an Accessory shop, a Dealer Locator facility and the Service Engineer section housing customer service and telephone helplines.
