TP Vision presented the first series of its new 2014 range of Philips TVs in Amsterdam last month. The new portfolio includes Full HD and Ultra HD TVs, from large screens to small screens, and from value devices to high-end TVs. They also include the Ambilight backlighting feature and incorporate Android-based smart TV technology.
Around half of the newly introduced series will feature Ambilight. The technology is designed to create an immersive viewing experience by throwing a soft glow of light matching the on-screen colours onto the wall behind the Philips TV. The new Ambilight Gaming setting will ‘provide gamers with ultra-fast Ambilight reaction times during gaming to enhance their game experience’. New apps are also being launched which will allow consumers to interact with Ambilight during sporting events.
Following on from the popularity of mobile and tablet devices, Philips TVs with Android are reportedly designed to fulfil the growing expectation of speed and content by combining a quad core processor with Android. The integration of Android into Philips TVs will allow users access to Android apps and content available in the Google Play Store.
Global marketing lead Marc Harmsen commented: “We innovate our Philips TVs continuously to create a better TV experience. With Ambilight and Android we are able to go beyond the ordinary. It is not about pushing technology to the limits, but about how technology can be used to design a TV that adds genuine value to users’ lives.”
Head of smart TV Albert Mombarg added: “By combining Android’s strengths with our existing Philips Smart TV offering, we will massively enrich the TV experience and make it smarter.”
The international campaign to support the launch is due to increase coverage throughout April.
