UK trade association for independent electrical retailers and servicing organisations retra has engaged the services of T21UK Training and Development to design, build and deliver two new online training courses, exclusive to retra members, T21UK has announced.
Specially built for retra and accessible by PC, Mac, tablet and smartphone, the first course will guide retail sales staff through a learning program designed by the trainers at T21 to deliver in-depth knowledge of Retracare’s ‘Protect’ and ‘Protect+’ extended service plans, as well as guidance on how to focus high-end selling skills that aid warranty sales in stores. The second online course will cover best practices for selling with finance products, such as ‘Buy now pay later’ and fixed term payment schemes.
T21UK managing director Paul Laville commented: “Nothing like what we’re doing exists on the market for this industry, so we’re building the program from the ground-up. It will be very different to what you might expect from an online training program. We’re designing the courses in such a way that it’ll be very easy for trainees to grab a few moments and complete a section without it tying up all their time. We’ll be utilising many elements, one of which will be film – the sequences for which are being shot within the spectacular Trowbridge superstore of Knees Home and Electrical.”
Retra deputy chief executive Howard Saycell said: “We’re delighted to be working with Paul and T21. This is a new and innovative way of delivering vital training to our membership. I hope the members and their staff will make the most of this additional membership benefit and we will welcome feedback once the program is launched.”
Retracare commercial director Matt Sheldrake added: “Having looked at various options available in the training sector we felt that T21 offered a dynamic and engaging solution that will clearly benefit retra members. Training is coming to you, and not you going to training. Exciting times ahead!”
Knees retail director Ian Vidler said: “It’s great to work with retra and T21 in producing modern training applications for retail. As a new retra member we intend to use the great services retra can supply to fully equip our retail business for the 21st Century. It can only be to our advantage to engage and work together to build a great future for the independent retail sector.”
T21 training director Mike Scott added: “Designing an online training course is not without its challenges. We need to be mindful of the demands on peoples’ time in stores, we need to make the content engaging so that sales staff want to continue with and complete the program, and we need to ensure that it addresses the needs of all sales staff whether they’re part-time or full-time, whether they’re male, female, young, old, new-starters fresh out of college or older, more experienced hands. All this without meeting them face-to-face! But our background is steeped in electrical retail and sales as much as it is in training, so we fully understand the demands on retail and of this industry in particular. It’s a fantastic initiative for retra members and I hope that all of them will jump on board the training when it goes live.”
The Retracare online training is scheduled to launch at the end of May 2015.
