BIRMINGHAM-BASED electrical independent, T C Hayes, gives its customers one of the best shopping experiences in the UK, according to a poll by Domestic & General. Tom Hayes, managing director of T C Hayes, received the prestigious D & G Retailer of The Year award at a special presentation lunch at The Connaught Hotel in London.
This year, over 200,000 customers were asked for their experiences after buying an electrical appliance by D & G – making it one of the largest independent surveys of point-of-sale service in the UK. Customers were asked to rate electrical shops for courtesy and friendliness, appearance of the store, how well the product was demonstrated and the product knowledge levels of shop staff.
At T C Hayes the customer is king: routinely every customer is phoned, within 48 hours of delivery and installation to check that everything is OK. Clearly, customers appreciate it. “I’m walking on air,” said a proud Tom Hayes. “It’s phenomenal that our customers have recognised us for what we try to achieve. Because, quite frankly, I feel the same way about my customers – they’re wonderful.”
In what was a close-run competition T C Hayes averaged 18.11 points out of a possible 20 – just 0.01 better than Scottish independent Gregor Watson.
