PURE Digital has just launched the first two DAB radios which not only feature the latest DAB technology but are designed to minimise their environmental impact. The Chronos iDock, combining DAB radio and iPod docking system, is suited to the bedroom, living room or kitchen.
The radio charges the iPod when docked and is compatible with all iPods from generation four. There is a line-in which enables playback of an iPod shuffle, MiniDisc player or alternative MP3 player. A remote control is also included. The radio has four independent alarms that can be set for weekdays, weekends, daily or as one-offs. Chronos iDock is also equipped in stereo speakers and comes with textSCAN, that allows users to pause and control the scrolling station information.
The second product in the EcoPlus range is the Tempus-1S, the third generation of the Tempus family of DAB bedside radios. It has been equipped with digitally recorded ‘natural sounds’ including birdsong, forest rain, thunderstorm and lapping waves, which can be listened to as background music, used as an alarm tone or played for up to 90 minutes before gradually fading out to silence. TEMPUS-1S features a new OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display and a light sensor which automatically adjusts display brightness.
It has 30 station presets and an auxiliary input to connect an iPod or MiniDisc player; Intellitext for browsing stored scrolling text, and FM with RDS for maximum station choice.
Both Chronos iDock and Tempus-1S have standby power consumption of less than 1W, and packaging and documentation based on recycled and sustainable materials. Chronos iDock will be available from the end of October and Tempus-1S from September.
