ShopJimmy, the North American refurbishing and recycling company has launched its UK operation in Whitney Oxfordshire. Founded in 2007 by Jimmy Vosika, the company’s CEO and ‘Director of Partology’, ShopJimmy US (ShopJimmy.com) has established partnerships with TV repair businesses and technicians across North America gradually outgrowing its 20,000 ft. warehouse in Minnesota.
After a significant amount of market research, the company launched ShopJimmy UK, in Whitney, Oxfordshire, under the management of Frank Verdeja, who worked in its North American branch for several years.
The business model of ShopJimmy is unique. “We recover TVs damaged during manufacturer-to-retailer shipping (we’re also partnering with recyclers in the UK), harvest all of the usable/working parts to sell them to service technicians, extended warranty companies and DIY enthusiasts, while recycling almost 100% of the remaining materials,” explains Ryan Zarlengo, the company’s marketing director.
“Unlike many other spare parts distributors, we are striving to eliminate careless e-waste, especially as the first major wave of plasma and LCD TVs are nearing the end of their consumer life cycle.”
The customers of ShopJimmy are: large electronics retailers, extended warranty companies, TV repair/service businesses and technicians, and DIY enthusiasts trying to repair their TVs.
“Our short-term plan is relatively simple: we want to build-up our inventory of TV spares, continue to find quality suppliers, and connect with our target market to provide them with the best selection/price of LCD and plasma TV spares.
“Our long-term goals are more ambitious: we want to increase our presence and impact on e-waste and recycling in Europe, as well as, expand,” concludes Ryan Zarlengo.
