Shaun Barrett, director of Barrett’s Digital World, has begun his term of retra presidency. Barrett’s Digital World is a 10,000 ft² out-of-town superstore in Canterbury which has been serving consumers for over 100 years.
Shaun took over the reins from Robert Hughes, director of Hughes Electrical, a chain of 44 stores across the Suffolk and the East Midlands.
“I feel very honoured to receive the presidency from Robert, and follow in the footsteps of such esteemed former presidents. I would like to thank Rob for all his hard work over the past year; he will be a very hard act to follow! retra has enjoyed a good year under Rob but it is time to look to the future,” said Shaun in his inaugural speech.
During his term he will focus on attracting more members to retra: “I would particularly like to use my presidency to increase the number of retail and associate members in retra. Welcoming manufacturers as associate members can bring numerous benefits to existing members and it is important to capitalise on this, while also strengthening the bonds between retailers and manufacturers. I would also like to attract the younger generation of electrical retailers to provide a new and contemporary take on working in the industry.”
