Supply chain and logistics company SCALA hosted the inaugural meeting of its supply chain best practice forum for the home appliance industry last month.
The forum complements SCALA’s long-standing grocery best practice forum, where members including Unilever, PepsiCo and Heinz have for several years been regular attendees, the company explains.
The home appliance meeting was attended by Dyson, HoMedics, Hoover Candy, Kärcher, Meyer Group, Spectrum Brands and Ultimate Products, with De Longhi and Groupe SEB subsequently committing to attend the next meeting in September. Several other companies have also expressed an interest in joining, SCALA notes.
The forum meets quarterly and allows members to share industry best practice and seek opportunities for learning and collaboration. The forums feature presentations from guest speakers and there is also an annual benchmarking study.
Reactions were positive to the inaugural meeting of the home appliance forum, SCALA adds.
Kärcher UK chief operating officer Mark Venner commented: “The SCALA best practice forum introduction day was a really positive first meeting and a great opportunity to meet with other supply chain and logistics professionals. I am confident this group will go from strength to strength and facilitate continuous improvements in the supply chain across our industry.”
SCALA senior partner Phil Reuben added: “The forum represents a real opportunity to drive improvement and promote collaboration across the home appliance industry. The success over seven years of the grocery best practice forum will, I am sure, be replicated in the appliance sector.”
SCALA Group will also be launching a third forum – for retailers – in the autumn.
