Samsung to release new Smart TV software development kit

Samsung is releasing its Smart TV Software Development Kit (SDK) 5.0, providing developers with the tools they need to create applications for the Smart TV platform.

With the new SDK 5.0, Samsung has expanded its range of devices that are compatible with Samsung Smart TV and improved its functions for better usability and performance. Consumers will now be able to control home appliances including lighting, air-conditioners andrefrigerators with a Smart TV app.

Guy Kinnell, Head of TV and AV, Samsung UK, said: “The Samsung Development Forum website is now growing to be the world’s largest TV app developer community with rapidly increasing membership and SDK downloads year-on-year. We will continue to update our Smart TV SDK to expand our Smart TV app ecosystem.”

The SDK 5.0 can be downloaded at Samsung Developers Forum from 6th January 2014.
