Samsung issued the following press release describing the event,
Last night, Samsung’s vision of the perfect living environment, where innovative technology meets cutting-edge design, was revealed in London’s most iconic department store, Harrods. This forms part of Samsung’s commitment to create new experiences for its customers and change their lifestyles in a positive way through innovative technologies. Working with world famous interior designer, Kelly Hoppen MBE, Samsung has created the Samsung Home Innovation living space; a premium showcase of Samsung’s latest home appliances, on display exclusively in Harrods.
The products are a perfect combination of intelligent functionality and beautiful design. Samsung believes the clever mix of form and function can not only complement our homes, but also make our lives easier through a range of clever new features. This amazing technology is showcased in Kelly’s vision of a sleek luxury environment – using contrasting textures including wood, lacquer, metal and glass to create a space perfect for relaxation, dining, work or play.
The Samsung Home Innovation space is an inspiration in home design and showcases products unique to Harrods, including:
- Intelligent ecobubble™ washing machines that can be controlled by your smart phone – with the smart, Wi-Fi enabled washer – you will never again have to worry about the washing sitting in the drum all day, as you can start the washing cycle on you way home from the office via you smartphone.
- Flexible fridges that are built for our lives today and can be arranged to meet the needs of many an occasion. Need more space for drinks? Bigger spaces for party platters? Or simply more freezer room for a growing family? The Samsung T9000 lets you convert spaces from fridges to freezers at the simple touch of a button. And it’s not just flexible space it offers – as you would expect, it is beautiful too. A fluid design where every detail from the gorgeous recessed handles to the smooth brushed finish is carefully considered. This fridge will make you the envy of all your friends.
- Clever vacuum cleaners designed for modern homes with Motion Sync Design™ that make movement effortless and smooth. These vacuums have special sensors that mean they can tell how clean your home is and which areas need cleaning the most. They even use UV light to neutralise allergens that can’t be seen by the naked eye – so your home will never be cleaner.
- NEO cooking series gives you a full range of co-ordinating Neo appliances, including single ovens, compact ovens, cook top, hood and warming drawers all with a simple, elegant design. The oven range also features Samsung’s unique Dual Cook™ technology, meaning you can cook two different things at two different temperatures at once. This saves time and energy, so you can really make a statement in your kitchen and get the professional results you’ve always wanted.
Mr BK Yoon, President & CEO, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics, said: “At Samsung, we are passionate about innovation and creating new technologies that genuinely change our customers’ lives for the better through features that make their lives easier. We are really proud of our new range of home appliances and have spent a great deal of time observing people around the world to find out what they are passionate about and how we can create products that help them in their daily lives.
“We’ve then taken our technological expertise and applied it to what we use around our homes which has resulted in some of the appliances that are on show in Harrods. Naturally we wanted to display our premium products in a premium way, so by working with Kelly Hoppen MBE to create an amazing space and placing it in iconic store like Harrods, we have created an inspirational retail space that we feel will enhance our customers’ lives now and in the years to come.”
Kelly Hoppen MBE added: “Our homes are so important to us – they are an expression of ourselves and places we eat, sleep, work and play. There is a natural synergy between design and innovation and it is important that the two work in harmony to create an enjoyable experience in your home. My aim with the Samsung Home Innovation space was to create a beautiful, sleek design in my signature neutral style that showed off these innovative products and created a luxury experience in the home.”
Annalise Quest, Director of Home, Harrods, added: “It’s becoming more and more important to offer our retail customers more than simply product features. They want to have an experience too. We truly believe that the Samsung Home Innovation space at Harrods is the future of retail, and we look forward to hearing what our customers think of this exclusive modern living space when they visit in the weeks and months ahead.”
The Samsung Home Innovation is located on the second floor at Harrods in Knightsbridge. This new premium living experience is open to members of the public now and will host a number of consumer events over the coming months.
