As trading conditions are getting tougher, retra has launched a new initiative facilitating the cooperation between the independent sector and its manufacturing partners. It comes in the form of an associate members pack which outlines ways in which suppliers can work more closely with the independent trade. The association believes such a step to be crucial for the survival of many smaller retailers and to the long-term prosperity of the industry.
Bryan Lovewell, chief executive of retra, explained: “We are facing challenging financial times so we all need to work together to ensure we operate in the most efficient and economical way. retra members are crying out for new ways to make their businesses more productive in an economic downturn. By partnering with manufacturers, distributors and other companies associated with the independent retail sector, retra hopes to help forge these new profitable relationships.”
Associate membership costs £500 +VAT per year. As an associate member, suppliers can access an invaluable channel of communication to the independent trade. They also enjoy a range of other benefits, including preferential financial packages, the use of a bespoke logo, a listing on the retra website, and many opportunities to meet with independent retailers.
