Refettorio Felix opens for London Food Month with support from Grundig

In Industry News On

Monday night saw the opening of Food for Soul’s new London community kitchen Refettorio Felix, in collaboration with London-based food waste charity The Felix Project.

Refettorio Felix will provide lunch from Monday to Friday for the homeless and those in socially vulnerable conditions during London Food Month, a new food festival produced by the London Evening Standard. The aim is to serve more than 2,000 meals using five tonnes of recovered food.

As Official Appliance Partner of London Food Month, Grundig provided appliances for the Refettorio including a limited-edition fridge freezer painted by French graffiti artist Thierry Noir to highlight the issue of food wastage.

The launch saw speeches from Food for Soul founder and three-Michelin-star chef Massimo Bottura (pictured), St Cuthbert’s chairman Richard Parker, The Felix Project chairman Justin Byam Shaw and London Food Month creative director Tom Parker Bowles. Among the VIP guests in attendance was renowned chef Alain Ducasse, the first guest chef at Refettorio Felix.

Beko plc brand manager for growth brands Gino Grossi commented: “As part of our Respect Food programme we believe people should not only enjoy good food but respect it too – which means wasting less. We already partner with Food for Soul and The Felix Project as part of our commitment to reducing food waste globally and are pleased to have had the opportunity to support Refettorio Felix as the Official Appliance Partner of London Food Month.”
