Pure unveils Evoke D2 by Rob Ryan

In Product News On

June 11 saw Pure stage an unveiling of its collaborative new digital and FM portable radio, featuring designs from London-based artist Rob Ryan.

Alongside DAB, the Evoke D2 by Rob Ryan also features Bluetooth connectivity for increased listening options. Having previously embarked on collaborations with amplifier manufacturer Marshall and designer Orla Kiely, Pure has turned to visual artist Rob Ryan for its latest design.

Speaking at the unveiling, Rob said: “I was given quite an open brief; we spoke about what we were working with and the range of shapes and functions. When you’re applying art to a working area, you can’t ignore the physical elements, the knobs and dials and buttons and so on. It’s also meant to be interacted with, and you don’t just view it from one angle. But in terms of design, I could work with it as I wanted. You don’t normally get pictures and words telling a story with these things, more just a patterned design. So it was an interesting challenge, applying this story telling element to give the product that other dimension.”

Evoke D2 by Rob Ryan features energy efficient Class-D audio amplification, excellent battery life and low power consumption. The Evoke D2 by Rob Ryan, along with all Pure’s current range of radios for the home and the car, has been approved to carry the Digital Radio tick mark, which has been devised to give consumers confidence that they are purchasing a radio that is ‘future ready’.

Pure is the first brand to carry the Digital Radio tick across its range of digital radios.

Pure sales and marketing director Nick Hucker commented: “We are extremely pleased to be working with such a creative artist and think Rob Ryan’s work is a perfect match for our Evoke D2 digital radio. We look forward to continuing this partnership with more products featuring Rob’s distinct artwork in the future. We know that our customers love it when we work with designers and this new radio is part of our focus on bringing fashion and customisation to our products.”

Evoke D2 by Rob Ryan will be available exclusively through John Lewis and Rob Ryan’s store Ryantown.
