When PJH trade counter manager for Cannock Gary Banner became aware of a Mauritian family of six, in Home Office care, struggling without an electric oven or other essential white goods, he swiftly got together with other PJH staff to secure and donate these much-needed appliances.
The family arrived in the UK and have recently been relocated in Wolverhampton, but while their legal paperwork is being progressed their status means they cannot work or earn any money to provide for the basic home essentials such as cooker, fridge or washing machine, managing only with a microwave.
The PJH Cannock team quickly jumped into action to source a fridge freezer and washing machine, but a cooker eluded them until PJH returns team leader Alistair Povey-Pugh contacted one of its suppliers, Neil Davies from Glen Dimplex, who, recognising this worthy cause, kindly donated an electric oven.
Delivery and fitting of the appliances were organised by PJH to ensure the family was up and running quickly and safely, to vastly improve their standard of living with appliances many take for granted.
