Premium Swiss loudspeaker brand Piega, which recently set up a UK subsidiary using Big Red Sales to handle sales, has been awarded a ‘Highly Recommended’ badge from audiophile title Hi-Fi Choice, the company has revealed.
The magazine has given the Piega Classic 5.0 speakers a 4.5 star review, and reads: “If you think Switzerland is all about Swiss Watches and Toblerone, here’s an elegant floorstander to make you change your mind”.
The Highly Recommended badge is given for Piega’s Classic 5.0 speakers which retail for just under £2,000 with the Makassar finish.
The review noted: “From the first few bars of the delicate orchestral strings that open the Van Morrison track, it’s clear the Piega is transparent and focuses well. The sound is true and natural, and the ribbon tweeter’s portrayal of fine detail meshes seamlessly with the larger sonic picture rather than being brightly lit.”
Hi-Fi reviewer David Vivian particularly liked the “lovely build” of the speakers and his overall verdict described an “attractive, well-engineered floorstander with an open and well-tempered sound. Almost as nicely put together as a Swiss Watch.”
The Piega Classic 5.0 was reviewed with five other floor-standing loudspeakers in the December issue of Hi-Fi Choice.
