Midwich reached a significant milestone this year as the company celebrated 30 years of trading and set its sights on the independent retail sector.
Established in 1979, Midwich initially sold components and supplied BBC computers to schools and colleges. In 1984, the company partnered Brother, its first major manufacturer, and began distributing printers before establishing a dedicated AV division in 1995.
Since then, the business has since grown substantially, both organically and by acquisition. Fast forward to 2009 and Midwich is now the largest AV distributor in Europe, a major distributor of printing products and, according to the Times, one of the top 250 privately owned mid-market companies in the UK. Midwich has now set its sights firmly on the independent electrical retail sector. The distributor has joined RETRA as an associate member and established a dedicated sales team to work with independent retailers.
