Maytag adds new premier centres

In Industry News On
maytagPremium appliance manufacturer Maytag has extended membership of its retailing concept, the Maytag Premier Centre, to showrooms in three new locations.

Buy It Direct of Alfreton, Apollo Appliances of Sheffield and Crawford’s Domestic Appliances of Heywood, near Manchester, will open as Maytag Premier Centres following the success of the first retailer to partner, Gilman’s of Gloucester, which opened in November 2013.

The three showrooms have been selected by Maytag as part of the Premier Centre blueprint, which has been developed to uphold the reputation of Maytag, while rewarding its very best independent retailers across the country.

Consumers and retailers are due to receive a variety of benefits as part of their involvement in the scheme, including in-depth product training from Maytag for staff.

Maytag Premier Centre dealers will receive marketing support, including advertising and PoS material, as well as selling offers exclusively available through high street Premier Centres. The network of Maytag Premier Centres is being rolled out across the country, with ten independent electrical dealers in total being invited to join the scheme.

Maytag national account manager Simon Starkie said: “The Maytag brand has a reputation of excellence built on the innovative and robust design of its appliances, and the Premier Centres concept has been developed to recognise the very best independent retailers to uphold this. We are delighted to welcome these three outstanding showrooms to the network, and will continue to work with our sole and exclusive Maytag distributor, DAD, to identify a further six exceptional specialist retailers wishing to become Premier Centres over the following months.”

DAD purchasing and director of sales Lee Gillman added: “The Maytag Premier Centre concept offers a number of fantastic benefits for participating retailers and exclusive offers, available only through the high street retail stores. The concept includes staff incentives, advertising support and a variety of point of sale materials, including attractive display stands, on which Maytag appliances can be demonstrated live.”

The Maytag Premier Centres concept has reportedly been designed to complement the brand’s 10-year parts warranty and two-year labour warranty available on all its appliances. The warranty covers all parts across the entire Maytag range, which includes dishwashing, laundry and cooling.

Maytag says it is on the lookout for other well-established retailers who may be interested in becoming Maytag Premier Centres.
