LG launches multi-screen focused promotion in time for World Cup

LG Electronics (LG) is looking to take advantage of research by offering free G Pad 8.3 to consumers buying from UHD 4K and OLED TV range.

LG’s promotion comes in response to research from Ofcom that revealed that almost 40% of British adults multitask between watching TV and using a tablet computer. This figure is even higher among young people with as many as 57% of 16-24 year olds being found to use multi-screens. As an incentive, LG is offering a free G Pad 8.3 when consumers buy an LG TV from the ULTRA HD 4K and OLED ranges.

With nearly a third of people using a tablet to check sports scores whilst watching TV, according to research from Nielsen, this promotion is timed to assist consumers who are keen to check all of the scores during this summer’s largest sporting spectacle at the same time as watching their own country on their TV. Consumers will be able to take advantage of this deal in the eight weeks leading up to the kick-off of the biggest sporting tournament of the year, with it going live in-stores and online from April 17 until June 12.

LG suggest that with 4K content becoming more readily available through the likes of Netflix, UHD 4K TVs being launched in a wider range of screen sizes and the roll out of further OLED TVs, such as the LG Gallery OLED, 2014 promises to be a big year for TV. The most anticipated event in football, as always, promises an extra big year for TV and there will be multiple opportunities for retailers surrounding this major sporting event when consumers naturally review their home entertainment solution.

The promotion will be available in all UK stockists of LG UHD 4K and OLED TVs, including Dixons, John Lewis and Richer Sounds amongst others. Stores will be supported with promotional materials including a video that will be distributed to all stockists. The promotion will also be supported by a national press and digital campaign throughout.

UK commercial director, consumer electronics Andy Mackay commented: “We’re heading into a key period in the TV calendar and with more consumers choosing to multitask by watching TV and using another screen, we believe LG is really meeting consumer demand with this promotion and also supporting our impressive ULTRA HD 4K and OLED TV ranges. It’s fantastic that we’re able to add value for our home entertainment consumers through offering such a great product from our mobile division and it truly demonstrates the depth of the LG portfolio.”

The Ultra HD 4K TVs models included the promotion are the 84LM960V, 65LA970W, 55LA970W, 65LA965W, 55LA965W, 84UB980V, 79UB980V, 65UB980V, 55UB850V and the 49UB850V.

The OLED TVs included are the 55EA980W and the 55EA880W.
