LG Electronics (LG) has announced that its parts and labour warranty on all ‘TrueSteam’ 9kg and above washing machines and washer dryers will increase from two to five years, for models purchased between November 1, 2014 and April 30, 2015.
This warranty extension comes in addition to the existing 10 year motor and parts warranty offered with all ‘Direct Drive’ motors across LG’s laundry range. The company’s inverter direct drive technology eliminates the belt and pulley mechanic ‘making the product less susceptible to breakdowns’, as well as increasing the motor’s efficiency and reducing energy consumption, LG says.
LG’s ‘Smart Diagnosis’ technology, available on some products in the LG laundry range, enables LG appliances to self-diagnose technical issues and communicate them to a server. This smart technology requires the consumer to hold a telephone handset against the appliance while pushing a button situated on the control panel. A three second noise will be emitted to LG’s server, which can translate over ninety different sound waves into a diagnosis, ensuring no unnecessary tampering or engineer visits, saving time and money.
LG UK commercial director Andy Mackay commented: “LG direct drive washing has a strong heritage for both ‘quality’ and ‘reliability’, so we’re adding value to consumers, and strong sales appeal to our trade partners, by adding a free five year warranty to our premium laundry models.”
