Today (Friday April 22) marks the official opening of Jessops in North Street, Brighton. The retailer celebrated its 51st UK location in a grand opening ceremony attended by the local community.
The opening gave the company a chance to reflect on two and a half years of growing success.
Jessops chief executive Neil Old said: “Our success is a multichannel strategy, within which the high street plays a key role. It is all about giving shoppers choice on how to buy: whether that’s in-store where they can get hands on experience, by phone, online 24/7, or via the collect at store service. And this all comes with the reassurance that prices will be the same across all channels and benchmarked against the leading UK retailers with our ‘Price Match Promise’. The expertise of our staff also plays a big part in our success – last year more than 12,000 people enrolled on our nationwide Academy Training courses to build on their photography skills.”
The flagship shop in Brighton, and the first opening of 2016 for Jessops, is a welcome addition to one of the UK’s most vibrant cities, helping customers both new and old to capture its urban streets of creativity, the company adds. Stepping into Jessops Brighton will offer ‘a fully immersive experience into the world of photography where products come alive through touch and feel’, Jessops says, allowing shoppers to experiment with the latest cameras and receive face to face specialist and impartial advice from a team of passionate photographers.
“So often specialist advice is overlooked,” continued Neil. “With Jessops, shoppers can receive the guidance they need to make an informed purchase when investing in a new camera.”
The new shop will offer Brighton the full portfolio of Jessops services, the retailer says. Customer can take advantage of the professional expertise of staff by enrolling on one of the many Academy Courses available to all levels. Other new services on offer include a rental service, trade-in offering, sensor cleaning, one-to-one photography tuition, an on-site lab for photo printing products made in-store within the hour, and access to a large range of cameras and accessories.
Retail operations director Scott Worger commented: “Brighton is a city steeped in artistry. So it will come as no surprise that our expert team is made up of trained, passionate photographers that live and breathe the subject. When customers come in they can be assured they are getting the very best advice available. Just like all our new stores, Brighton has been designed to offer an immersive experience in which photography really comes alive through touch and feel. Shoppers can get hands-on with the latest kit and take advantage of the years of practical experience shared by our team.”
The arrival of Jessops will be celebrated with an Instagram campaign in which the retailer has invited consumers to publish their best photo of Brighton using the hashtag #HelloJessopsBrighton. The three most creative and exciting Instagram shots will each be awarded with a box print of their winning image which can be collected from the shop. Winners will be announced on Monday April 25 via Jessops social pages.
