The European Parliament has voted to keep the familiar A-G energy labelling format for televisions, but not for fridges. This situation will create customer confusion, reported the BRC. The introduction of a new set of energy efficiency categories for fridges will include, for example a rating of ‘A-20′ – to indicate the product is 20% more efficient than ‘A’ and ‘A-40′ for 40% more efficiency than ‘A’ etc.
Almost a third of internet users are too frightened to shop online, according to a report by the Office of Fair Trading. The report reveals that 30% of users are too frightened to hand over their credit card details and do not shop online because of a lack of trust.
Exeter is on track to become the UK’s first digital city, as the West Country continues the transition to all-digital television. The first stage of switchover at the Stockland Hill transmitter group, serving Exeter, parts of Devon, Somerset and Dorset, has been completed and the technical process ran smoothly.
Digital UK with the help of The Daily Mirror began the search for the UK’s oldest working television set. Once found, the set will be converted to digital – proving that you don’t need to buy a new TV to get ready for switchover.
