In the opinion of store staff, the HD DVD format leads the race for the high definition player market – as indicated by the research conducted by a marketing agency Gekko. 60% of retail staff predicted the HD DVD technology would be the enduring format, with Blu-ray receiving 38% of the votes and 2% of respondents being unsure.
According to RAJAR, the radio industry’s measuring body,19.5% of the UK population now live in homes that have a digital radio, up a substantial 43% when compared to Q1, 2006 (13.6%). This equates to 10 million adults and is up from 16% in Q4 2006.

Hitachi and Matsushita Electric Co, known for its Panasonic brand, have announced that they had agreed to strengthen their partnership in the plasma TV business. Under the agreement, the two companies will supply each other with plasma display panels.

Tesco plans to launch a financial services comparison site this autumn after registering and trade marking tescocompare.com. The site will enable users to compare hundreds of products and prices and is being launched with Tesco Personal Finance’s partner, Royal Bank of Scotland, the UK’s largest general insurer.
