AMDEA has updated the Time to Change website www.t2c.org.uk, and its calculator now reflects current (August 2008) energy prices. The new pages dedicated to fridge and washing machine features provide illustrative guides explaining how each function maximises the machine’s eco-efficiency.

The British Retail Consortium has warned retailers that some local authorities could use the new Business Rate Supplementary Bill powers to saddle retailers with new tax costs when they can least afford it. The Retail Trust Helpline (0808 801 0808), which is a free and confidential service available to all retail employees past and present, has reported a 25% increase in calls over the last three months from retail staff experiencing increased incidents of stress, depression and financial crisis. The Helpline is available seven days a week and is a signpost service providing support, information and guidance to retail workers on a wide range of concerns.
