The two Hoover directors that took on a huge charity cycle ride across France have announced their fundraising totalled almost £3,000.
Steve Macdonald (pictured right), marketing director of Hoover’s freestanding division and Kevin Finn (pictured left), sales director of Hoover freestanding and built-in Ireland, raised a total of £2,902 (€3,279), as well as gift aid contributions, for St. John’s Hospice in Wirral and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. Both charities are local to Hoover’s operations in Bromborough and Dublin.
The eight-day bike ride saw the duo tackle a 1,200km (745m) cycle route, which involved numerous punctures and even concussion, following a bike collision on day two.
Steve Macdonald commented: “The first two days were more difficult than expected as we had to take on some really tough terrain, including wood trails and semi gravel. However, the biggest setback was definitely my collision with the back of Kevin’s bike! Luckily my helmet did its job, which allowed us to continue on to easier and more enjoyable days.
“We’re both really proud of completing the cycle and I’m thrilled to have raised vital funds to contribute towards the fantastic work that St. John’s Hospice undertake every single day.”
Kevin added: “Despite a few minor setbacks it was an enjoyable experience and a great accomplishment. I’m so glad I’m able to make a donation to the children’s hospital.
“I’d like to thank everyone that donated for their generosity – your contributions will go a long way!”
