Haier Europe, the number one global major appliance brand, has expanded its largest European production and export centre with an investment of €85 million into two new factories in Eskişehir, Turkey.

The company’s new 43,000 sqm tumble dryer factory opened in October 2021 and has the aim of manufacturing 1.5 million units per year across Haier Europe’s three brands – Candy, Hoover and Haier – with approximately 900 people employed at the location.

In addition to the tumble dryer expansion, a new dishwasher factory is planned to open in 2022. This will have a production capacity of approximately one million units per year and will employ around 700 people.

The collective expansion places Turkey as Haier’s largest production and export centre in Europe to serve both domestic and global markets, and marks an important step in delivering the brand’s vision to be the first consumer choice for the smart home.

Yannick Fierling, Haier Europe’s Chief Executive, said: “The new production facilities are a key step in elevating Haier to the top three players in the industry in Europe by integrating artificial intelligence, IoT, and connectivity into high-end products and home solutions.

“We want to consolidate this mission by counting on a competitive industrial footprint and strong R&D and hi-tech capabilities, systems and platforms for the entire value chain.”

Mr Fierling added: “Haier’s best-in-class factories aims to improve production capacity, product availability and range flexibility through excellent equipment and premium production processes. This is thanks to the company’s advanced R&D and manufacturing know-how – reflected in the factories state-of-the-art traits, such as the fully automatised painting line and the fully digital quality check.

“The expansion represents a strategic move for the company in line with Haier Europe’s vision to become the first choice for consumers for smart home appliances.”
