Our data shows a 35% contract cancellation rate in the average dealer rental book during the past 12 months. Why customers are choosing to purchase rather than rent when the product now becomes obsolete so quickly is unclear. It may be due to the current lack of rental advertising added to the demise of DER, Granada and Visionhire from the high street.
We appear now to have a niche market where the best defence against losing customers is to update them to LCD or Plasma as soon as possible.

Through the efforts of our hard-working sales force 21% of lost customers are replaced with new customers. Similarly our acquisitions team are always keen to talk to retiring dealers. This turns a 21% loss into a small but welcome 16% growth with a proportionate increase in income through the introduction of the higher priced LCDs and Plasmas.
The general public do not appear to be aware of Paul Getty’s advice “if an asset appreciates buy it if it depreciates lease it”.
