British TV manufacturer Cello has announced it will be bringing back the Ferguson brand.
After completing a deal with Technicolor of France, Cello will manufacture Ferguson televisions for the UK market. Ferguson was a television market leader throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s when it was part of Thorn EMI Empire. The brand was later acquired by Thompson SA in 1987 but in recent years had disappeared from UK shelves.
The new range will include LED displays with screen sizes from 24in to 75in – all models from 50in upwards delivering 4K Ultra High Definition, Cello says.
Ferguson will once again be located in the UK, with the new LED TVs all being built and manufactured from Cello’s production line in Bishop Auckland, County Durham.
Cello adds that it will initially focus on manufacturing larger 4K UHD televisions, from 50in to 75in, and these models will be available to purchase at the beginning of November, retailing from approximately £499.99. Initial deliveries have already been received from buying group Euronics.
Cello Electronics chief executive Brian Palmer commented: “I started out in this business selling Ferguson to consumers and truly understand the trust people had in the brand over the years. Having now come full circle I am proud to have the opportunity to bring this iconic brand back into the UK market.”
