Appliance care specialist and warranty provider Domestic & General has signed a new partnership deal with Maplin Electronics, who will now be offering a three-year ‘Protect’ service plan in all of its 218 stores nationwide. The exclusive contract sees Maplin provide aftercare service on its products for the first time since opening in 1976.
‘Protect’, the jointly named replacement plan from Domestic & General for Maplin, is now offered on selected products in stores across the UK. The three-year service plan includes damage caused by accident from day one, replacement in store, and breakdown protection after the manufacturer’s guarantee ends – with no additional charges, Domestic & General explains.
The partnership with Maplin joins Domestic & General’s existing partnerships with high-street retail chains Argos and Game.
Domestic & General sales director Kam Kandola commented: “Maplin is yet another major retailer that has put its trust in Domestic & General to deliver a bespoke service to its customers. Maplin and other retailers continue to choose Domestic & General as their product care provider, which demonstrates the level of confidence that the market has in us and the services we provide.”
An extended training programme has also been designed specifically for Maplin and is available via an online portal.
Maplin head of connected services Richard Quinn added: “Maplin is evolving as a business, and we have put additional focus on giving our customers extra choice and the right services. ‘Protect’ from Domestic & General offers a brand new service that is of exceptional value to our customers. We are delighted to venture into this previously unchartered territory.”
Additional growth with extended warranties and digital channels are planned for the near future, Domestic & General adds.
