Fashion powerhouse Dolce&Gabbana has once again teamed up with appliance manufacturer Smeg to unveil its second ‘Made in Italy’ collection.
The new range will feature a selection of Smeg’s small domestic appliances, including kettles, toasters and juicers, each crafted in celebration of the Italian heritage of both brands. The new unique collection, titled ‘Sicily is my Love’, will be unveiled this week during Salone del Mobile in Milan.
Each item in the ‘Sicily is my Love’ collection – which also comprises blenders, coffee machines and stand mixers – has been decorated with quintessential Sicilian motifs; gold lemons and citrus fruits, prickly pears and bold, bright cherries. These are framed in traditional triangular Sicilian decorations known as ‘crocchi’, Smeg explains. Each model also boasts a selection of floral designs inspired by the coasts and landscapes of southern Italy and Mount Etna, surrounded by ornamental friezes and decorative leaf motifs.
Each detail featured in the intricate design links back to Sicily, the home of Dolce&Gabbana. More generally, each model is a celebration of the province’s culinary delights and traditional dishes. Each model in the collection boasts a 100% unique pattern and is finished with the hallmark ‘Made in Italy’ emblem.
The new collection follows last year’s ‘Frigorifero d’Arte’ refrigerator collection, which transformed the brand’s revered FAB28 fridge into a work of art for the home.
The first examples of the new collection will be previewed as a concept during Salone del Mobile 2017 at an exclusive event hosted by Dolce&Gabbana at Milan’s Metropol.
