Electrical Safety First has extended the entry deadline for the Safety Innovation Award to September 29.
The Safety Innovation Award puts the spotlight on individuals and businesses that put safety at the heart of product development and service offering, while incorporating sustainability and innovation.
Martyn Allen, technical director at Electrical Safety First, said: “We want to promote applications from businesses of all sizes – as well as individuals – that have developed an innovative product or project initiative which enhances consumer electrical safety.
“We know that, during this period of uncertainty and rapid technological change, there is huge opportunity for innovation and creativity in product safety to thrive.”
Entrants to the awards must include a detailed description of how their innovation improves safety, together with supporting evidence of how it fulfils award criteria. Applications are open to projects, products and services, at all stages of development, including design and concept.
Last year’s award winner was the E-Bulb from JOB. Described as the world’s smallest fire extinguisher, it is a key component in device-integrated fire protection.
Applicants who are shortlisted will be invited to give a presentation to judges on Tuesday, October 5, after which two finalists will be selected. They will go ‘head-to-head’ at Electrical Safety First’s annual product safety conference, on Wednesday, November 24, and Thursday November 25, where the winner will be selected by the audience.
Mr Allen said: “At Electrical Safety First, safety is the core of everything we do. Our Safety Innovation Award reflects this and encourages other, like-minded, organisations that prioritise safety. This award is all about acknowledging those individuals and companies who stand out as safety champions.”
