Dacombes of Wimborne announces move to new 4,500 sq ft store

In Industry News On

At the end of January 2017, multi-award winning, family-owned and -run electrical retailer Dacombes of Wimborne is moving to new premises.

Dacombes of Wimborne has been based in and around West Street, The Cornmarket and the Square for almost 100 years (the business will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2020) and is now relocating to Leigh Road, saving the prominent Brights of Nettlebed building from demolition in the process.

The new 4,500 square foot store is on two levels and offers parking at the rear, the retailer reveals. Both levels will be used to full advantage as a destination store, with the ground floor laid out into the key areas of the home to showcase kitchens, a TV and AV lounge area and a selection of white goods.

Dacombes is an official stockist for Neff, Samsung, Bosch, Panasonic, Liebherr and Dyson, all of which will be laid out in their own key areas of the store with a chance for customers to engage with products, the retailer adds, while the upper floor will be used for storage and offices.

The company says that it will be offering a larger range of home appliances, white goods, AV, televisions, and other home electrical items, and Dacombes will also be offering a bespoke fitted kitchen service for the first time.

Dacombes managing director Matt Renaut commented: “When we heard that Brights of Nettlebed were closing their Wimborne store we knew it would be an ideal location for us and enable us to go ahead with our expansion plans.”

He added: “Retail is changing, and via customer feedback we realised the need to create a destination shop and to have specialist products and advisors on hand to create bespoke kitchens too.

“We had run out of space in West Street and in the Cornmarket and the new building has the added advantage of a car park to the rear. The premises are spacious which means we can create several different areas for our products and our customers will have the benefit of more selection thus creating an improved customer experience and level of service.”

Matt continued: “I, my co-directors and our team of 15 skilled staff very much look forward to welcoming everyone to the brand new Dacombes of Wimborne store in Leigh Road soon.”

Wimborne BID chair Ian Faulkner commented: “We are delighted that retailing will continue at the Brights of Nettlebed site, and even more delighted that it is one of Wimborne’s success stories that is taking over the space.

“The family owned and run Dacombes of Wimborne has continually shown how an independent retailer can succeed in today’s retail environment, with several national awards standing as testament to their success.”

He added: “This move supports Dacombes’ continued growth and expansion plans, and provides another great destination to visit in Leigh Road. We wish the directors and team every continued success.”
