UK hi-fi industry trade association The Clarity Alliance announced its policy programme for 2015 and welcomed industry figures Andy Clough and Richard Trotter to its board of directors at its annual industry conference on Monday February 2.
Clarity chairman Laurence Armstrong and operations director Phil Hansen presented the Alliance’s objectives for 2015. They announced that the board has refocused its aims and objectives and will be concentrating its efforts on the support and promotion of its members’ interests during the coming period. Six key policy areas were unveiled including a mentoring programme aimed at helping start-up businesses, retaining the services of an independent trainer to take its training into stores and the introduction of an online sales portal through which retailers can advertise ex-demo, trade in and end of line stock for sale.
It was also revealed that Clarity’s dealer locator advertising will move online to offer better measurement, instant leads and accurate targeting. Clarity is set to take space at key overseas events in order to showcase British hi-fi, especially from companies without an export presence and the trade body will be presenting its third annual ‘Best of Show’ awards at Bristol while involvement with the National Audio Show will be repeated in 2015 and further developed.
The members of Clarity also voted for the board of directors to serve during 2015. Chairman Laurence Armstrong thanked the board for its efforts in 2014 and praised the work of retiring director Rachael Prasher from Haymarket. Joining the board for the first time were Richard Trotter of Arcam and Andy Clough of Haymarket.
