Home appliance brand Bosch installed the world’s largest dishwasher on London’s Southbank over the weekend of May 5 to 8.
Measuring 50 times larger than an average dishwasher, the interactive experience gave visitors the chance to walk through a wall of water and stay perfectly dry.
Using 2,000 litres of recycled water falling at a rate of 44 litres per minute, a cascade of water is created. However, as visitors walk towards the curtain of continuously flowing water, motion sensors respond to their presence and movement, automatically stopping the flow of water as they step under it, Bosch explains.
The 4.9m high installation was created to launch Bosch’s new PerfectDry dishwasher, which uses natural Zeolith minerals to dry dishes – meaning that plates, pans, glasses and plastic items come out of the dishwasher perfectly dry, Bosch says.
Bosch Home Appliances group marketing manager Charlotte Moran commented: “Our giant dishwasher installation is about showcasing how our new PerfectDry dishwasher achieves the seemingly impossible – washes all dishes, pots, pans, glassware and even plastics but leaves them perfectly dry.
“By allowing visitors to control the water inside our giant dishwasher, people will experience the control, convenience and peace of mind that Bosch’s home appliances offer. At Bosch, we create products that make our consumers’ lives easier, giving them more time to do the things they enjoy so we hope the installation will do just that – give them something to enjoy!”
