The third annual Which? Awards organised by the consumer organisation and held this year at the British Museum in London, saw Bosch and Cannon winning the top accolades of the Best Domestic Appliance Brand and the Best Audio-Visual Brand respectively. John Lewis reclaimed the Best High Street Retailer title and play.com retained the Best Online Retailer award.
The Which? Awards celebrate the best products and services in the UK. The companies shortlisted for the Awards are determined on the basis of Which? research and testing of products, as well as surveys conducted among Which? membership.
This year the organisation paid particular attention to companies which have provided best value to their customers, whilst continuing to flourish in the economic downturn. Peter Vicary-Smith, Which? chief executive, commented: “Now, perhaps more than ever, consumers want to know that if they spend their hard-earned cash on a product or service it will be worth it. We will be delighted to be celebrating individuals, local businesses and well-known consumer brands that not only meet the highest standards in their field, but also seek to deliver exceptional value.”
This year Which? has introduced two new award categories: Which? Local Business of the Year – the winner of which – Joseph Morris Butchers from Midlands – was identified on the basis of the recommendations and votes of Which? members, and the Which? Innovation Award which went to BBC iPlayer.
