Sony has just concluded the first phase of its new sales programme that has proved the most successful of the manufacturer’s retail staff promotions.
Alfa = alfa programme was set up to incentivize employees of the Jessops chain and independent photography specialist retailers to develop greater understanding of Sony digital imaging products and help them sell more Sony cameras and lenses. Every time an employee, participating in the programme, sold one of the selected Sony products (that included all alpha and NEX camera and top end Cyber-shot models) they earned themselves points and an entry into weekly prize draws.
For phase one of the programme two separate online portals were created: Jessops Photo Zone for employees of Jessops and the Sony Photo Zone for independent photography outlets. Once registered, to have a chance of winning weekly prizes and the grand prize of an Alfa Mito, staff had to complete product training modules throughout the nine week programme.
Chris Bowen, Sony country head for UK and Ireland, and Shaun Dorrington, marketing director for UK and Ireland, presented the winners with their prizes at the Sony UK head office in Weybridge, Surrey, on the 2 October 2012.
The winners of the two Alfa Mitos were: Patricia Hubbard from Jessops in Sheffield and Darren Kearney from Park Cameras in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, the Sony Photo Zone winner.
Phase two of the programme will be launched on the 24 October and will run until 15 January 2013.
