Italian kitchen appliance manufacturer Bertazzoni has supported the transformation of a community centre in Pentre, South Wales, with the donation of one of its range cookers.
The Bertazzoni Master Series 90cm range cooker was gifted to the Canolfan Pentre in the Rhondda Valley – a facility which provides a space for community, social and learning events.
Set up by mum-of-three, Buffy Williams, the Canolfan Pentre aimed to lift community spirit after a run of closures in the village, including the school and post office. Formerly known as Pentre Day Centre, the facility is funded in-part by public donations and relies on support from volunteers.
The refurbishment provided a much-needed face-lift of the hub’s very small, basic kitchen which caters for a range of groups, such as after-school clubs and nursery groups.
Following the donation Buffy (pictured right) said: “We’re so overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and you have no idea what the range cooker has done for us.
“We’re extremely grateful to Bertazzoni for the brand-new range cooker – it’s an essential addition to the kitchen and will be vital for catered events, which we struggled with previously as we had to make do with what we had.
“Our previous appliance only worked in certain areas so we had to keep rotating things whilst they were cooking and it always took forever too. Even the kids’ Play-Doh took hours instead of minutes to set!
“The refurbishment has injected a new lease of life into the centre and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to the revitalised facility in the future.”
Bertazzoni UK & Eire managing director Maurizio Severgnini added: “We were honoured to have been involved in this project. Family is one of our brand pillars and the centre has a real family feel about it, so we were only too happy to help out.
“Cooking and eating together is an integral element of daily life and to have supplied an appliance to the Canolfan Pentre so it can serve the community was our pleasure.”
