‘CAST Line by Patricia Urquiola’ is a new kitchen product design partnership between architect and designer Patricia Urquiola and home appliance manufacturer Beko, launched last week at EuroCucina in Milan.
Reportedly taking inspiration from modern European living, the CAST Line built-in series brings together Beko’s technology and Patricia’s minimalist designs. This is Patricia’s first foray into product design and at the heart of the designs was ‘a desire to keep the highest level of functionality with a sleek modern look’.
All the appliances in CAST Line by Patricia Urquiola and Beko are said to have been developed with the consumer in mind and combine ‘appealing design with functionality and technical performance’. The product range includes ovens, hobs and hoods (pictured).
Patricia Urquiola commented: “The main idea of the concept is to develop a line which is contemporary but not over-designed, moving on from the current products available in this market. The products needed to be flexible enough for multiple markets with a strong technical innovation and performance. My particular design philosophy for Beko was to work on innovation, technology and performance with a comfortable ‘dress’ that fits well and can be used in different ways.”
