AV distributor BBG Distribution Ltd and headphone and turntable manufacturer Audio-Technica have announced the transfer of the existing exclusive UK distribution arrangement between the two companies. From October 1 2015, Audio-Technica’s UK consumer range of headphones, turntables and cartridges will be distributed by their own UK operation.
With this amicable agreement, both companies are working together to ensure the smoothest possible transition with Audio-Technica currently in discussion with BBG staff to retain their continued participation in building the Audio-Technica consumer brand within the UK, BBG says.
BBG managing director Gordon Dutch commented: “BBG was acquired by Peerless USA in May 2009 and since that time has done a phenomenal job of both establishing the Peerless-AV brand in UK and EMEA retail and professional markets. Our BBG division has played a key role in the success of many significant retail brands including Audio-Technica, however, our main focus has always centred on audio-visual accessories.
“In light of this transfer, we have decided to move away from the premium home electronics area of the business and continue to focus on our own brand of Peerless-AV TV and flat panel mounts, TV, audio and PC cables and TV furniture products. As of October 1 2015 we will no longer distribute some of the audio brands we currently offer including Elipson, Onkyo, TEAC, Roth, Somle & Wharfedale. We will work with all our suppliers and retailers to minimise possible disruption and thank them for all their partnerships in the past as well as their continued support of Peerless-AV going forward.”
Audio-Technica Europe marketing director Robert Morgan-Males added: “BBG has achieved amazing successes for the Audio-Technica brand in the UK consumer market in a little over 24 months. The high level of sales, support and professionalism give our retail business a firm basis which to build upon and we very much appreciate all the efforts and hard work the team at BBG have put in.”
